The holiday season is already passing by in a blur. It can seem like a lot of work for the illusion of fun, or if you just stop and look around, you may get more than an illusion. I used to laugh at that saying, “Me Time” and think yeah sure I’ll take some of that. It’s been during this past year that I’ve realized, I don’t have to let life push me around. There is a lot of color and activity afoot that should be observed and appreciated. I’ve learned that waiting on line affords me the opportunity to enjoy the fruit of life even if it isn’t in my hand. Learning to cool my engine instead of revving up to get that last can of “Who Hash” has given me a feeling of awe. I didn’t know I could do that. So, I make time now to enjoy activities that may or may not be in the holiday plans.

Now that I know the world isn’t going to end because my package didn’t arrive on time, I make it a point to step off the beaten path. For instance, I have decorations that I’ve collected over the years, and each year I systematically hang them on the tree. I’ve never stopped to just look at and appreciate the beauty of them. This year I have, and I am glad I did. It’s those small touches of color that make each individual piece quite extraordinary.
And stopping for a good meal that you don’t have to cook is equally wonderful.
So, for whatever it is that’s taking up your mind, I want to convey to you:
Matthew 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
Wishing you all great joy and peace this Holiday Season!
P.S. Please feel free to comment on what you do to make the holiday season more fun and less stressful.
