It’s the holidays coming down the stretch! That time of year when everything seems to accelerate. The days whistle by like the wind. Spare time is spent trying to get into the holiday spirit while work demands more time. After all, it is the holidays. There are parties to attend and decorations to be hung.
My baking buddy and I are having a particularly tough time finding time this year. We decided to take the road quickly traveled. We looked around for simple stuff. Quick mixes with a homemade taste and texture.
We found a recipe for sugar cookies which offered a shortcut to completion. The high point for this recipe was that it didn’t require the dough to be refrigerated overnight. If you’re hard pressed for time check this out. https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/sugar-cookies-5
Next, we used Carnation Famous Fudge mix and added Andes peppermint baking chips on top. I found myself tasting one piece after another, after another…Delicious!
We baked our favorite Libby’s Pumpkin bread mix. It’s moist and flavorful. The frosted sugar icing on top makes this dessert complete.
Finally, we tried Pillsbury limited edition “Hot Cocoa” cookies with marshmallow. Very good. I had a problem saving these for the party.
We brought them to the community gathering and they were eaten in minutes. The ladies couldn’t believe they were mixes.
Baking from scratch is a labor of love and highly commendable. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time. So, if you’re like me, you might want to give these holiday treats a try. Wishing everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
